The Gainesville Red Elephants tipped the host Lanier Longhorns basketball team by a final score of 55-53 in Saturday's league game.

In their next game, the Red Elephants face the McIntosh Chiefs (Peachtree City, GA) in a non-league battle, on Monday, January 16. Gainesville will attempt to improve on its 14-1 season record. The Chiefs come into the battle with a 8-9 record after their 55-24 league win over Drew (Riverdale, GA).

The Longhorns (10-7) will now prepare for their battle against Habersham Central (Mt. Airy, GA). The Raiders come into the AAAAAA Region 8 battle with a 11-5 record. In their last battle, Habersham Central edged North Forsyth (Cumming, GA), 55-45, in a league battle.
