The Lanier Longhorns basketball team (Sugar Hill, GA), was nudged 43-41 in Friday's league battle with the host Gainesville Red Elephants (Gainesville, GA)
The Red Elephants now possess a 19-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Jackson County for a AAAAAA Region 8 battle on Tuesday, February 7. Gainesville will confront a Panthers team coming off a 53-28 league loss to Shiloh (Snellville, GA). The Panthers record now stands at 6-17.
The Longhorns (14-9) will now prepare for their battle against Habersham Central (Mt. Airy, GA). The Raiders come into the AAAAAA Region 8 battle with a 15-7 record. In their last battle, Habersham Central was nudged by North Forsyth (Cumming, GA), 71-29, in a league battle.
