The Blackwell Maroons (Blackwell, OK) basketball edged the visiting Newkirk Tigers (Newkirk, OK), 57-53 in Tuesday's league bout.
The Maroons now possess a 6-5 record. They play next when they travel to Tonkawa for a non-league bout on Thursday, January 16. Blackwell will play a Buccaneers team coming off a 48-34 non-league loss to Frontier (Red Rock, OK). The Buccaneers record now stands at 4-9.
With the loss, Newkirk falls to 7-8 on the campaign. The Tigers host Pawhuska (Pawhuska, OK) to play the Huskies in a non-league bout on Thursday, January 16. The Huskies go into the bout with a record of 10-2. Pawhuska won 47-39 in their recent non-league bout against Silo (Silo, OK)
