The Merritt Academy Mustangs (New Haven, MI) basketball nipped the visiting Carsonville-Port Sanilac Tigers (Carsonville, MI), 31-27 in Monday's non-league test.

The Mustangs (3-3) will now prepare for their test against Star International Academy (Dearborn Heights, MI). The Falcons go into the non-league test with a 3-4 record. In their last test, Star International Academy was tipped by Advanced Tech Academy (Dearborn, MI), 50-27, in a league test.

The Tigers now own a 3-6 record. They play next when they host Akron-Fairgrove for a North Central Thumb - Stripes test on Thursday, January 19. Carsonville-Port Sanilac will encounter a Vikings squad coming off a 36-28 league loss to Owendale-Gagetown (Owendale, MI). The Vikings record now stands at 0-8.
