Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Sands Mustangs (Ackerly, TX) and the host Grady Wildcats (Lenorah, TX), saw Sands's basketball squad overcome Grady by a tally of 49-41.
With the victory, Sands improves its record to 13-8 on the campaign. The Mustangs host Dawson (Welch, TX) to confront the Dragons in a 1A Region I District 8 challenge on Friday, January 19. The Dragons come into the challenge with a record of 0-11. Dawson lost 60-29 in their recent non-league challenge against Christ the King Cathedral (Lubbock, TX)
Next up, the Wildcats confront the Wellman-Union Wildcats (Wellman, TX) in a 1A Region I District 8 challenge, on Friday, January 19. Grady will attempt to improve on its 4-4 season record. The Wildcats come into the challenge with a 1-13 record after their 77-38 league loss to Loop (Loop, TX).
