Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC) and the visiting Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC), saw South Caldwell's basketball squad hold off Ashe County by a count of 63-56.

With the victory, South Caldwell upgrades its record to 9-9 on the campaign. The Spartans travel to Hibriten (Lenoir, NC) to play the Panthers in a 3A/4A Conference 52 challenge on Thursday, January 19. The Panthers come into the challenge with a record of 8-9. Hibriten lost 40-38 in their recent league challenge against Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC)

Next up, the Huskies play the Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC) in a 3A/4A Conference 52 challenge, on Friday, January 20. Ashe County will attempt to upgrade on its 6-11 season record. The Pioneers come into the challenge with a 9-8 record after their 98-80 league win over Freedom (Morganton, NC).
