The South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC) basketball nipped the visiting Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC), 59-53 in Tuesday's non-league test.

The Spartans (12-13) will now prepare for their test against Freedom (Morganton, NC). The Patriots go into the non-league test with a 19-4 record. In their last test, Freedom got by Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC), 62-46, in a league test.

The Huskies now own a 9-16 record.
