Marathon Mustangs (Marathon, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Sanderson Eagles (Sanderson, TX), 72-30 in a league bout.

With the win, Marathon upgrades its record to 12-7 on the season. The Mustangs travel to Comstock (Comstock, TX) to play the Panthers in a 1A Region II District 10 bout on Friday, January 20. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 0-8. Comstock lost 81-11 in their recent league bout against Rankin (Rankin, TX)

Next up, the Eagles play the Grandfalls-Royalty Cowboys (Grandfalls, TX) in a 1A Region II District 10 bout, on Friday, January 20. Sanderson will attempt to upgrade on its 4-12 season record. The Cowboys go into the bout with a 11-7 record after their 49-45 league loss to Marathon (Marathon, TX).
