The Marathon Mustangs basketball team scored 55 points and restricted the host Sanderson Eagles to 24 in the Mustangs league victory on Tuesday.

The Mustangs now sport a 1-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Fort Hancock for a non-league contest on Thursday, December 15. Marathon will battle a Mustangs team coming off a 43-16 non-league win over Horizon (El Paso, TX). The Mustangs record now stands at 12-4.

Next up, the Eagles clash with the Grandfalls-Royalty Cowboys (Grandfalls, TX) in a 1A Region II District 10 bout, on Thursday, December 15. Sanderson will attempt to upgrade on its 3-5 season record. The Cowboys go into the bout with a 8-1 record after their 44-41 non-league win over Fort Davis (Fort Davis, TX).
