Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC) and the visiting Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC), saw Watauga's basketball squad hold off Freedom by a tally of 66-61.

With the victory, Watauga improves its record to 10-5 on the campaign. The Pioneers travel to Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC) to confront the Huskies in a non-league challenge on Friday, January 20. The Huskies come into the challenge with a record of 6-7.

Next up, the Patriots confront the Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, January 20. Freedom will attempt to improve on its 9-4 season record. The Cougars come into the challenge with a 11-2 record after their 35-23 non-league win over Hibriten (Lenoir, NC).
