Piedmont Highlanders (Piedmont, CA) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting San Leandro Pirates (San Leandro, CA), 61-50 in a league bout.

With the win, Piedmont upgrades its record to 10-7 on the season. The Highlanders travel to Castro Valley (Castro Valley, CA) to play the Trojans in a West Alameda County - Foothill bout on Friday, January 19. The Trojans go into the bout with a record of 8-10. Castro Valley lost 61-56 in their recent league bout against Berkeley (Berkeley, CA)

Next up, the Pirates play the Bishop O'Dowd Dragons (Oakland, CA) in a West Alameda County - Foothill bout, on Friday, January 19. San Leandro will attempt to upgrade on its 2-13 season record. The Dragons go into the bout with a 11-6 record after their 77-65 league win over St. Joseph Notre Dame (Alameda, CA).
