The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Heppner Mustangs (Heppner, OR) and the visiting Grant Union Prospectors (John Day, OR), observed Heppner's basketball team overwhelm Grant Union by a margin of 59-24.

The Mustangs (11-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Weston-McEwen (Athena, OR). The TigerScots come into the 2A Blue Mountain challenge with a 15-1 record. In their last challenge, Weston-McEwen trounced Joseph (Joseph, OR), 56-19, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Prospectors battle the Enterprise Outlaws (Enterprise, OR) in a 2A Blue Mountain challenge, on Saturday, January 18. Grant Union will attempt to better on its 7-11 season record. The Outlaws come into the challenge with a 11-5 record after their 54-27 league loss to Stanfield (Stanfield, OR).
