The Alleghany Trojans (Sparta, NC) basketball knocked off the host Elkin Buckin' Elks (Elkin, NC), 49-35 in Thursday's league test.

The Trojans (6-9) will now prepare for their test against Mount Airy (Mount Airy, NC). The Granite Bears go into the 1A Northwest test with a 5-6 record. In their last test, Mount Airy notched a victory over Starmount (Boonville, NC), 50-48, in a league test.

The Buckin' Elks now own a 4-10 record. They play next when they travel to South Stokes for a 1A Northwest test on Tuesday, January 23. Elkin will encounter a Sauras squad coming off a 74-55 league win over North Stokes (Danbury, NC). The Sauras record now stands at 14-1.
