North Providence Cougars (North Providence, RI) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Blackstone Valley Prep PRIDE (Cumberland, RI), 63-59 in a league bout.

With the victory, North Providence upgrades its record to 12-1 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Davies Career & Tech (Lincoln, RI) to play the Patriots in a Division 3 bout on Wednesday, January 24. The Patriots come into the bout with a record of 3-6. Davies Career & Tech lost 54-44 in their recent league bout against Mount St. Charles Academy (Woonsocket, RI)

Next up, the PRIDE play the Block Island (New Shoreham, RI) in a Division 3 bout, on Friday, January 19. Blackstone Valley Prep will attempt to upgrade on its 3-5 season record.
