Gladewater Bears (Gladewater, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Hughes Springs Mustangs (Hughes Springs, TX), 56-54 in a league bout.

With the win, Gladewater upgrades its record to 3-19 on the season. The Bears host New Diana (Diana, TX) to clash with the Eagles in a 3A Region II District 15 bout on Tuesday, January 23. The Eagles go into the bout with a record of 8-12. New Diana lost 60-24 in their recent league bout against Sabine (Gladewater, TX)

Next up, the Mustangs clash with the Daingerfield Tigers (Daingerfield, TX) in a 3A Region II District 15 bout, on Saturday, January 20. Hughes Springs will attempt to upgrade on its 6-17 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 4-5 record after their 60-38 league win over White Oak (White Oak, TX).
