In Friday's league outing, the Leake County Gators (Walnut Grove, MS) basketball squad nipped the host Taylorsville Tartars (Taylorsville, MS), by a margin of 51-48.

The Gators (8-12) will now prepare for their outing against Mississippi School for the Deaf (Jackson, MS). The Bulldogs go into the 1A Region 7 outing with a 1-14 record. In their last outing, Mississippi School for the Deaf was tipped by Taylorsville (Taylorsville, MS), 82-25, in a league outing.

The Tartars now own a 8-14 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Piney Woods for a 1A Region 7 match on Tuesday, January 23.
