Sumter Central Jaguars (York, AL) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Southside Panthers (Selma, AL), 58-42 in a league bout.

With the victory, Sumter Central upgrades its record to 14-3 on the campaign. The Jaguars travel to Noxubee County (Macon, MS) to play the Tigers in a non-league bout on Wednesday, January 24. The Tigers come into the bout with a record of 7-9. Noxubee County won 55-33 in their recent non-league bout against West Lowndes (Columbus, MS)

Next up, the Panthers play the Selma Saints (Selma, AL) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 20. Southside will attempt to upgrade on its 5-10 season record. The Saints come into the bout with a 12-3 record after their 50-27 non-league win over Bessemer City (Bessemer, AL).
