Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Abilene Eagles (Abilene, TX) and the host Lubbock Westerners (Lubbock, TX), saw Abilene's basketball squad hold off Lubbock by a count of 49-47.
With the victory, Abilene upgrades its record to 14-10 on the campaign. The Eagles host Coronado (Lubbock, TX) to play the Mustangs in a 5A Region I District 4 challenge on Friday, January 5. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a record of 8-15. Coronado lost 73-46 in their recent league challenge against Lubbock-Cooper (Lubbock, TX)
Next up, the Westerners play the Wylie Bulldogs (Abilene, TX) in a 5A Region I District 4 challenge, on Friday, January 5. Lubbock will attempt to upgrade on its 5-14 season record. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a 14-9 record after their 58-43 league loss to Monterey (Lubbock, TX).
