River Oaks Mustangs (Monroe, LA) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Hillcrest Christian Cougars (Jackson, MS), 43-23 in a league bout.

With the win, River Oaks upgrades its record to 3-1 on the season. The Mustangs travel to Tensas Academy (St. Joseph, LA) to play the Chiefs in a non-league bout on Friday, January 5. The Chiefs go into the bout with a record of 0-4.

Next up, the Cougars play the Prairie View Academy Spartans (Bastrop, LA) in a MAIS 3A District 4 bout, on Friday, January 5. Hillcrest Christian will attempt to upgrade on its 3-14 season record. The Spartans go into the bout with a 1-2 record after their 36-10 non-league loss to Briarfield Academy (Lake Providence, LA).
