The Mahnomen/Waubun Thunderbirds basketball team scored 64 points and limited the host Red Lake County Central Mustangs to 44 in the Thunderbirds league triumph on Thursday.

The Thunderbirds now possess a 3-8 record. They play next when they travel to Fertile-Beltrami for a A Section 8 game on Monday, January 6. Mahnomen/Waubun will play a Falcons team coming off a 49-30 non-league loss to Lake Park-Audubon (Lake Park, MN). The Falcons record now stands at 7-6.

With the loss, Red Lake County Central falls to 4-3 on the campaign. The Mustangs travel to Goodridge/Grygla (Goodridge, MN) to play the Chargers in a A Section 8 game on Monday, January 6. The Chargers go into the game with a record of 4-5. Goodridge/Grygla won 62-43 in their recent non-league game against Warroad (Warroad, MN)
