Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Bland County Bears (Rocky Gap, VA) and the visiting Galax Maroon Tide (Galax, VA), saw Bland County's basketball squad knock off Galax by a count of 65-54.

With the victory, Bland County upgrades its record to 12-5 on the campaign. The Bears travel to Narrows (Narrows, VA) to play the Green Waves in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, January 25. The Green Waves come into the challenge with a record of 14-3. Narrows won 63-52 in their recent league challenge against Parry McCluer (Buena Vista, VA)

Next up, the Maroon Tide play the George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) in a Mountain Empire challenge, on Tuesday, January 24. Galax will attempt to upgrade on its 1-13 season record. The Maroons come into the challenge with a 12-2 record after their 65-53 league loss to Auburn (Riner, VA).
