Bland County Bears (Rocky Gap, VA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Galax Maroon Tide (Galax, VA), 52-39 in a league bout.

With the victory, Bland County upgrades its record to 6-2 on the campaign. The Bears host Narrows (Narrows, VA) to play the Green Waves in a non-league bout on Monday, December 19. The Green Waves come into the bout with a record of 4-2. Narrows lost 69-54 in their recent non-league bout against Altavista (Altavista, VA)

Next up, the Maroon Tide play the George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) in a Mountain Empire bout, on Tuesday, December 20. Galax will attempt to upgrade on its 0-4 season record. The Maroons come into the bout with a 4-0 record after their 65-60 league win over Auburn (Riner, VA).
