Sands Mustangs (Ackerly, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Dawson Dragons (Welch, TX), 59-20 in a league bout.

With the win, Sands upgrades its record to 8-11 on the season. The Mustangs travel to Loop (Loop, TX) to play the Longhorns in a 1A Region I District 8 bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Longhorns go into the bout with a record of 5-11. Loop lost 47-34 in their recent league bout against Klondike (Lamesa, TX)

Next up, the Dragons play the Grady Wildcats (Lenorah, TX) in a 1A Region I District 8 bout, on Tuesday, January 24. Dawson will attempt to upgrade on its 2-10 season record. The Wildcats go into the bout with a 11-5 record after their 85-19 league win over Wellman-Union (Wellman, TX).
