In Friday's non-league match, the visiting Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane basketball team scored a tight 52-48 triumph over the Wilcox County Patriots.

In their next game, the Purple Hurricane meet the Sumter County Panthers (Americus, GA) in a AA Region 1 match, on Tuesday, January 24. Fitzgerald will attempt to move on its 9-8 season record.
