The Grayson County Blue Devils (Independence, VA) basketball nipped the visiting Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA), 52-49 in Friday's league test.

The Blue Devils (6-9) will now prepare for their test against Auburn (Riner, VA). The Eagles go into the Mountain Empire test with a 8-9 record. In their last test, Auburn got by George Wythe (Wytheville, VA), 41-34, in a league test.

The Spartans now own a 0-14 record. They play next when they travel to Fort Chiswell for a Mountain Empire test on Tuesday, January 24. Giles will meet a Pioneers team coming off a 46-40 non-league win over Narrows (Narrows, VA). The Pioneers record now stands at 10-6.
