The Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA) basketball knocked off the visiting Grayson County Blue Devils (Independence, VA), 50-33 in Thursday's league test.

The Spartans (2-21) will now prepare for their test against Fort Chiswell (Max Meadows, VA). The Pioneers go into the Mountain Empire test with a 15-7 record. In their last test, Fort Chiswell went down by George Wythe (Wytheville, VA), 48-44, in a league test.

The Blue Devils now own a 6-14 record. They play next when they travel to Galax for a Mountain Empire test on Monday, February 13. Grayson County will encounter a Maroon Tide squad coming off a 54-12 non-league win over Northwood (Saltville, VA). The Maroon Tide record now stands at 13-9.
