Union Spartans (Rose Hill, NC) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Hobbton Wildcats (Newton Grove, NC), 50-36 in a league bout.

With the win, Union upgrades its record to 8-6 on the season. The Spartans host Neuse Charter (Smithfield, NC) to clash with the Cougars in a 1A Conference 10 bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 10-8. Neuse Charter lost 40-31 in their recent league bout against Lakewood (Roseboro, NC)

Next up, the Wildcats clash with the North Duplin Rebels (Calypso, NC) in a 1A Conference 10 challenge, on Tuesday, January 24. Hobbton will attempt to improve on its 1-12 season record. The Rebels come into the challenge with a 13-1 record after their 58-25 league win over Rosewood (Goldsboro, NC).
