The Newton Tigers (Newton, MS) basketball knocked off the visiting Lake Hornets (Lake, MS), 41-23 in Monday's league test.

The Tigers (16-5) will now prepare for their test against Scott Central (Forest, MS). The Rebels go into the 2A Region 5 test with a 13-10 record. In their last test, Scott Central notched a victory over Clarkdale (Meridian, MS), 57-25, in a league test.

The Hornets now own a 8-12 record. They play next when they travel to Bay Springs for a 2A Region 5 test on Tuesday, January 23. Lake will encounter a Bulldogs squad coming off a 49-44 league win over Newton (Newton, MS). The Bulldogs record now stands at 13-4.
