The Newton Tigers basketball team scored 60 points and held the visiting Lake Hornets to 47 in the Tigers non-league triumph on Thursday.
The Tigers now sport a 19-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Bay Springs for a non-league contest on Friday, February 9. Newton will meet a Bulldogs team coming off a 51-48 non-league win over Scott Central (Forest, MS). The Bulldogs record now stands at 16-5.
The Hornets (9-15) will now prepare for their contest against Scott Central (Forest, MS). The Rebels enter the non-league contest with a 14-13 record. In their last contest, Scott Central was outscored by Bay Springs (Bay Springs, MS), 51-48, in a non-league contest.
