The Mellen Granite Diggers basketball team scored 62 points and held the visiting Washburn Castle Guards to 37 in the Granite Diggers league triumph on Monday.

The Granite Diggers now sport a 7-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Butternut for a Indianhead contest on Thursday, January 26. Mellen will battle a Midgets team coming off a 43-29 league win over Lac Courte Oreilles (Hayward, WI). The Midgets record now stands at 7-6.

The Castle Guards (2-9) will now prepare for their contest against Lac Courte Oreilles (Hayward, WI). The Eagles enter the Indianhead contest with a 0-12 record. In their last contest, Lac Courte Oreilles was routed by Butternut (Butternut, WI), 43-29, in a league contest.
