Texas High School Basketball - Canton knocked off by Athens

The Athens Hornets basketball team scored 45 points and held the visiting Canton Eagles to 34 in the Hornets league triumph on Tuesday.

The Hornets now sport a 13-14 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Cumberland Academy for a 4A Region II District 16 contest on Friday, January 26. Athens will battle a Knights team coming off a 68-46 league loss to Mabank (Mabank, TX). The Knights record now stands at 3-19.

The Eagles (16-13) will now prepare for their contest against Cumberland Academy (Tyler, TX). The Knights enter the 4A Region II District 16 contest with a 3-20 record. In their last contest, Cumberland Academy was defeated by Athens (Athens, TX), 72-66, in a league contest.
