North Carolina High School Basketball - Draughn thwarts Owen

January 23, 2024: Valdese, NC 28690

The Draughn Wildcats (Valdese, NC) basketball knocked off the visiting Owen Warhorses (Black Mountain, NC), 76-64 in Tuesday's league test.

The Wildcats (6-12) will now prepare for their test against Avery County (Newland, NC). The Vikings go into the 1A/2A Western Highlands test with a 5-11 record. In their last test, Avery County notched a victory over Rosman (Rosman, NC), 68-46, in a league test.

The Warhorses now own a 4-10 record. They play next when they travel to Mitchell for a 1A/2A Western Highlands test on Friday, January 26. Owen will encounter a Mountaineers squad coming off a 67-57 league win over Madison (Marshall, NC). The Mountaineers record now stands at 9-7.
