In Tuesday's league outing, the Galax Maroon Tide (Galax, VA) basketball squad overwhelmed the host Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA), by a margin of 59-32.

The Maroon Tide (5-8) will now prepare for their outing against Carroll County (Hillsville, VA). The Cavaliers go into the non-league outing with a 15-1 record. In their last outing, Carroll County smashed Glenvar (Salem, VA), 78-61, in a league outing.

The Spartans now own a 3-11 record. They play next when they travel to Auburn for a Mountain Empire outing on Thursday, January 25. Giles will encounter a Eagles squad coming off a 71-35 league win over Fort Chiswell (Max Meadows, VA). The Eagles record now stands at 8-6.
