The Galax Maroon Tide basketball team scored 58 points and restricted the visiting Giles Spartans to 33 in the Maroon Tide league victory on Wednesday.

The Maroon Tide now sport a 8-13 record. They put it on the line next when they host Fort Chiswell for a Mountain Empire contest on Friday, February 9. Galax will battle a Pioneers team coming off a 66-28 league loss to Grayson County (Independence, VA). The Pioneers record now stands at 8-12.

The Spartans (4-18) will now prepare for their contest against George Wythe (Wytheville, VA). The Maroons come into the Mountain Empire contest with a 16-5 record. In their last contest, George Wythe triumphed over Narrows (Narrows, VA), 83-48, in a non-league contest.
