Samson Tigers (Samson, AL) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Wicksburg Panthers (Newton, AL), 49-38 in a league bout.

With the win, Samson upgrades its record to 15-6 on the season. The Tigers host Cottonwood (Cottonwood, AL) to play the Bears in a 2A Area 2 bout on Friday, January 26. The Bears go into the bout with a record of 18-4. Cottonwood won 58-36 in their recent non-league bout against Rehobeth (Dothan, AL)

Next up, the Panthers play the Elba Tigers (Elba, AL) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, January 25. Wicksburg will attempt to upgrade on its 15-9 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 19-4 record after their 61-24 league win over Brantley (Brantley, AL).
