Sands Mustangs (Ackerly, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Loop Longhorns (Loop, TX), 57-22 in a league bout.

With the win, Sands upgrades its record to 9-11 on the season. The Mustangs host Wellman-Union (Wellman, TX) to play the Wildcats in a 1A Region I District 8 bout on Friday, January 27. The Wildcats go into the bout with a record of 1-10. Wellman-Union lost 68-20 in their recent league bout against Klondike (Lamesa, TX)

Next up, the Longhorns play the Dawson Dragons (Welch, TX) in a 1A Region I District 8 bout, on Friday, January 27. Loop will attempt to upgrade on its 5-12 season record. The Dragons go into the bout with a 2-11 record after their 67-13 league loss to Grady (Lenorah, TX).
