Pecos Panthers (Pecos, NM) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Mesa Vista Trojans (Ojo Caliente, NM), 80-61 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Pecos upgrades its record to 16-3 on the season. The Panthers host Santa Rosa (Santa Rosa, NM) to clash with the Lions in a 2A District 6 bout on Thursday, January 26. The Lions go into the bout with a record of 15-4. Santa Rosa won 68-45 in their recent non-league bout against Laguna Acoma (New Laguna, NM)

Next up, the Trojans clash with the Questa Wildcats (Questa, NM) in a 2A District 5 bout, on Thursday, January 26. Mesa Vista will attempt to upgrade on its 9-9 season record. The Wildcats go into the bout with a 2-17 record after their 54-28 league loss to McCurdy (Espanola, NM).
