The Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane basketball team scored 56 points and held the visiting Sumter County Panthers to 47 in the Purple Hurricane league triumph on Tuesday.
The Purple Hurricane now sport a 10-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Jeff Davis for a AA Region 1 contest on Friday, January 27. Fitzgerald will battle a Yellowjackets team coming off a 72-29 league loss to Berrien (Nashville, GA). The Yellowjackets record now stands at 2-15.
The Panthers (3-16) will now prepare for their contest against Tift County (Tifton, GA). The Blue Devils enter the non-league contest with a 14-4 record. In their last contest, Tift County ran past Thomas County Central (Thomasville, GA), 51-50, in a league contest.
