Texas High School Basketball - Taft trounced by Mathis

The Mathis Pirates routed the visiting Taft Greyhounds basketball team by a final score of 53-20 in Tuesday's league game.

In their next game, the Pirates face the Goliad Tigers (Goliad, TX) in a 3A Region IV District 29 game, on Friday, January 27. Mathis will attempt to move on its 16-14 season record. The Tigers enter the game with a 17-11 record after their 34-24 league win over George West (George West, TX).

With the defeat, Taft moves to 5-25 on the year. The Greyhounds host Odem (Odem, TX) to face the Owls in a 3A Region IV District 29 game on Friday, January 27. The Owls enter the game with a record of 5-18. Odem lost 64-27 in their recent league game against Aransas Pass (Aransas Pass, TX)
