California High School Basketball - Rancho Cotate can't hold off Piner

Piner Prospectors (Santa Rosa, CA) boosters left the game satisfied Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad nudge the visiting Rancho Cotate Cougars (Rohnert Park, CA), 59-56 in a league match.

With the victory, Piner upgrades its record to 14-8 on the year. The Prospectors travel to Ukiah (Ukiah, CA) to face the Wildcats in a North Bay - Redwood match on Tuesday, January 28. The Wildcats enter the match with a record of 6-16. Ukiah won 68-65 in their recent league match against Healdsburg (Healdsburg, CA)

The Cougars now sport a 16-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host Elsie Allen for a North Bay - Redwood match on Tuesday, January 28. Rancho Cotate will face a Lobos squad coming off a 60-31 league loss to St. Vincent de Paul (Petaluma, CA). The Lobos record now stands at 4-13.
