New Mexico High School Basketball - Zuni can't hold off Newcomb

The Newcomb Skyhawks basketball team scored 44 points and held the visiting Zuni Thunderbirds to 42 in the Skyhawks league triumph on Wednesday.

The Skyhawks now sport a 6-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Navajo Prep for a 3A District 1 contest on Friday, January 27. Newcomb will battle a Eagles team coming off a 40-20 league win over Crownpoint (Crownpoint, NM). The Eagles record now stands at 15-3.

The Thunderbirds (10-5) will now prepare for their contest against Tohatchi (Tohatchi, NM). The Cougars enter the 3A District 1 contest with a 10-7 record. In their last contest, Tohatchi was nudged by Navajo Prep (Farmington, NM), 52-40, in a league contest.
