North Carolina High School Basketball - Mitchell edges Tuscola

The Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC) basketball nudged the host Tuscola Mountaineers (Waynesville, NC), 62-60 in Thursday's non-league match.

In their next game, the Mountaineers meet the Mountain Heritage Cougars (Burnsville, NC) in a 1A/2A Conference 42 match, on Tuesday, January 31. Mitchell will attempt to better on its 9-11 season record. The Cougars enter the match with a 18-1 record after their 58-43 league win over Avery County (Newland, NC).

With the defeat, Tuscola moves to 2-18 on the year. The Mountaineers travel to East Henderson (East Flat Rock, NC) to meet the Eagles in a 3A Conference 54 match on Friday, January 27. The Eagles enter the match with a record of 8-12. East Henderson lost 47-46 in their recent league match against West Henderson (Hendersonville, NC)
