New Mexico High School Basketball - Animas can't hold off Magdalena

The Magdalena Steers basketball team scored 39 points and restricted the host Animas Panthers to 35 in the Steers league victory on Thursday.
The Steers now sport a 12-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Cliff for a A District 2 contest on Saturday, January 28. Magdalena will battle a Cowboys/Cowgirls team coming off a 41-37 league loss to Mesilla Valley Christian School (Las Cruces, NM). The Cowboys/Cowgirls record now stands at 14-3.
The Panthers (11-6) will now prepare for their contest against Quemado (Quemado, NM). The Eagles come into the A District 2 contest with a 13-5 record. In their last contest, Quemado edged Reserve (Reserve, NM), 39-38, in a league contest.
