    Bowie Volunteers (Arlington, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Grand Prairie Gophers (Grand Prairie, TX), 73-56 in a league bout.

    With the victory, Bowie upgrades its record to 15-14 on the campaign. The Volunteers travel to Arlington (Arlington, TX) to play the Colts in a 6A Region I District 8 bout on Tuesday, January 30. The Colts come into the bout with a record of 7-19. Arlington lost 68-53 in their recent league bout against Haltom (Haltom City, TX)

    Next up, the Gophers play the South Grand Prairie Warriors (Grand Prairie, TX) in a 6A Region I District 8 bout, on Tuesday, January 30. Grand Prairie will attempt to upgrade on its 16-14 season record. The Warriors come into the bout with a 24-6 record after their 81-48 league win over Sam Houston (Arlington, TX).
