In Friday's league outing, the Newman Central Catholic Comets (Sterling, IL) basketball squad nipped the visiting Bureau Valley Storm (Manlius, IL), by a margin of 64-57.

The Comets (16-9) will now prepare for their outing against Mendota (Mendota, IL). The Trojans go into the Three Rivers - East outing with a 9-12 record. In their last outing, Mendota was tipped by Hall (Spring Valley, IL), 66-62, in a league outing.

The Storm now own a 9-10 record. They play next when they travel to Warren for a non-league outing on Saturday, January 27. Bureau Valley will clash with a Warriors squad coming off a 50-39 league loss to Stockton (Stockton, IL). The Warriors record now stands at 7-12.
