The Byers Lions (Holly Springs, MS) basketball crushed the visiting Pine Grove Panthers (Ripley, MS), 64-36 in Friday's league test.
The Lions (17-4) will now prepare for their test against Jumpertown (Booneville, MS). The Cardinals go into the 1A Region 2 test with a 3-16 record. In their last test, Jumpertown was trounced by Smithville (Smithville, MS), 74-65, in a non-league test.
The Panthers now own a 11-8 record. They play next when they host Falkner for a 1A Region 2 test on Monday, January 29. Pine Grove will encounter a Eagles squad coming off a 52-37 league win over Myrtle (Myrtle, MS). The Eagles record now stands at 8-13.
