El Campo Ricebirds (El Campo, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Navasota Rattlers (Navasota, TX), 59-41 in a league bout.

With the win, El Campo upgrades its record to 9-16 on the season. The Ricebirds travel to Needville (Needville, TX) to play the Bluejays in a 4A Region IV District 25 bout on Tuesday, January 30. The Bluejays go into the bout with a record of 18-5. Needville won 51-44 in their recent league bout against Wharton (Wharton, TX)

Next up, the Rattlers play the Sealy Tigers (Sealy, TX) in a 4A Region IV District 25 bout, on Tuesday, January 30. Navasota will attempt to upgrade on its 13-11 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 10-14 record after their 54-49 league loss to Bellville (Bellville, TX).
