Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Wayne County War Eagles (Waynesboro, MS) and the host Gautier Gators (Gautier, MS), saw Wayne County's basketball squad wallop Gautier by a tally of 65-40.

With the victory, Wayne County improves its record to 17-5 on the campaign. The War Eagles host Oak Grove (Hattiesburg, MS) to play the Warriors in a non-league challenge on Thursday, February 1. The Warriors come into the challenge with a record of 7-14.

Next up, the Gators play the Stone Tomcats (Wiggins, MS) in a 5A Region 4 challenge, on Tuesday, January 30. Gautier will attempt to improve on its 9-14 season record. The Tomcats come into the challenge with a 17-5 record after their 52-36 league win over Vancleave (Vancleave, MS).
