The Highland Baptist Christian Bears (New Iberia, LA) basketball nipped the host Hanson Memorial Tigers (Franklin, LA), 39-36 in Friday's league test.

The Bears (9-14) will now prepare for their test against Vermilion Catholic (Abbeville, LA). The Eagles go into the 1A District 7 test with a 10-5 record. In their last test, Vermilion Catholic was tipped by Abbeville (Abbeville, LA), 65-55, in a non-league test.

The Tigers now own a 6-12 record. They play next when they host Covenant Christian Academy for a 1A District 7 test on Tuesday, January 30. Hanson Memorial will encounter a Lions squad coming off a 49-46 non-league win over Westminster Christian Academy (Lafayette, LA). The Lions record now stands at 14-7.
