The Hawkins Hawks (Hawkins, TX) basketball nipped the host McLeod Longhorns (McLeod, TX), 42-36 in Friday's league test.

The Hawks (25-1) will now prepare for their test against Harleton (Harleton, TX). The Wildcats go into the 2A Region III District 21 test with a 7-16 record. In their last test, Harleton got by Linden-Kildare (Linden, TX), 62-12, in a league test.

The Longhorns now own a 29-3 record. They play next when they travel to Ore City for a 2A Region III District 21 test on Tuesday, January 30. McLeod will encounter a Rebels squad coming off a 73-45 league loss to Union Grove (Gladewater, TX). The Rebels record now stands at 7-15.
